Submission Guidelines

:star:To submit art::star:

:bulletblue: Once you are a member, you should see a button at the top of the page that says "Contribute Art" (Non-group members will not see this. You must be a member to submit art.)

Press it, and it will bring up a pop-up that will show your gallery. Highlight which piece you'd like to submit. It's that easy. :)

***Please limit your submission to 1 per week per deviant.

#dAPagan Staff kindly ask you to consider the following before submitting your creations:

-they must abide by the rules and policy of deviantART(copyright, appropriate category, behavior&interaction, mature content&nudity etc)

- #dAPagan Staff reserve the right to select the submissions according to the quality, pagan content, and creative effort that they involve. We welcome every type of art, media and all levels of artistic accomplishment- but we would like to maintain the standards of our submissions. Please, mind your presentation of materials. Take a nice photo of your crafts or paintings so that others may enjoy it better--it shows pride in your work. Poor presentation may result in denial of your submission, so take heed and read the guidelines below.

:police: IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS YOU MUST MAKE BEFORE SUBMITTING :police:
- #dAPagan Asks that you submit only deviations that contain obvious pagan religious content. Simple Fantasy or Dark works with no perceived Pagan Content will not be added to the Club Gallery. We are seeking works that bear RELIGIOUS SIGNIFICANCE to your Pagan Path.

We realize that the line between fantasy, mythology, and many of the trappings of paganism exist in a world of gray area. Let us provide an example of what we consider as the difference between acceptable submissions and unacceptable submissions. This is in NO WAY a dig at anyone's path, or what is deemed "acceptable paganism". That is not for us to decide; we just have to judge your submissions.

Example:
:bulletblue: A photomanipulation of a Fairy without any obvious religious significance (either in the image itself or in your description) will be dismissed as a work of fantasy. If the Fairy bears an obvious religious significance, the piece will be accepted.
:bulletblue: King Arthur and his Knights or Ladies found within the depths of those awesome tales are considered works of fantasy for a number of reasons. The tales are largely Christian-themed, despite undercurrents of older pagan traditions. If one were to submit a work of the Avalonian variety, you should do your homework and weave in the Pagan context of your submission. Perhaps you would like to create a piece that blatantly illustrates Morgan LeFay in a complicated piece regarding how she evolved from powerful and skilled sorceress to villainess in direct conjunction to religious attitudes of the time period; IE the suppression of the powerful women as illustrated through her....well that includes quite a bit more thought than submitting an image of a sorceress in a pretty dress with the name Morgan LeFay tacked on. Do you see our point?

We may not be able to inform each individual of why their image was denied due to the number of submissions we get. We don't want to hurt anyone's feelings--if your image is denied from the gallery try resubmitting it as a featured FAVORITE, and it will likely be accepted. We are reserving the gallery for religious pieces, and the favorites for more secular ones.

- #dAPagan Admins will review your submission, and if the criteria for submission are met, your deviation will be accepted. :) HOORAY!

Deviants

Seasonal Shifts and Earthquakes

Journal Entry: Fri Mar 5, 2010, 10:19 AM

Greetings all!

It's that time. The wheel of the year is rolling on. For some of us, spring is just around the corner. For others, the big cooling down is beginning. I don't know about everyone else, but we had nearly 40 inches of snow in Baltimore that has left the ground utterly saturated. We are a muddy, slippery mess.

A Note On Submissions </u>
I wanted to talk a little bit about our submission policy. Fortunately, enough of you guys are reading and following it and we've seen some brilliant new works and some exciting perspectives from new members!

Please be warned though: we follow our submission guidelines. Even if every single one of your submissions is brilliant, please adhere to our policy of one (1) submission per week. While I am pleased with the exuberance of our membership, it takes us a very long time to vote down extra submissions. This slows the submission process down for EVERYONE, as we rifle through pages of submissions trying to find the ones that still need to be voted in.

If your submission was declined, please check the submission policy first before contacting us. Your answer will probably be found there. Believe me when I say it's absolutely nothing personal. I hate rejecting submissions, but we have rules in place for a reason. If you are convinced there was some error (possible), feel free to poke us about it after having reread the submission guidelines.

Disaster Relief </u>

With that bit of business out of the way, I wanted to redirect our attention to matters of a spiritual nature.

2010 has been a very hard year so far for many people. Between natural disasters and troubles in general, the sacred earth continues to turn. There are those who have lost their homes and many more who have lost lives. Pieces of themselves that are gone in an instant. Times like these are sometimes difficult to bear. Politics, agendas, and the misplaced good intentions of thousands cloud the waters a bit for those of us that would like to help. We second guess that donation towards a relief effort because we can never be positive that it is going to the right place.

Many are fast to point fingers at whose "fault" it is. Some have blamed God, some have blamed the religion of the people affected, some say that all of humanity is to blame and the earth is striking back. No matter what you believe about what is going on, we as survivors still have work to do.

So what can we do, #dAPagan? As human beings, we hold a certain degree of responsibility to fellow humans and the world around us. What can we offer our brothers and sisters in Haiti? What of our kin in Chile? What about all of us?

Here is my proposition. We can offer our time, our prayers, and our support.

:bulletblue: If you have written a prayer or meditation regarding these events, or a piece of Pagan artwork that depicts something that you would like those in suffering to see, please submit your work to our Disaster Relief folder.
:bulletblue: If there is interest in an online Vigil/Ritual to be held in our chatroom to help ease the suffering around us, please comment here so that we can organize something as a group. We are a varied group, but I am sure that we can agree on something suitable for our paths.
:bulletblue: There are those of us that are well versed in disaster preparedness, and if we have some volunteers that are willing to write blogs, articles or essays on the subject, please contact us. :)

Please remember that as a club, we are open to discussion. What will not be tolerated is senseless name calling or harassment.

We are daPagan. </u>

That said, what is on your minds? What would you like to see? The possibilities with a Pagan club are endless, and while the founding of this club was centered around spiritual artwork there is no reason we cannot also act as a resource for our membership.

Is there interest in compiling a #dAPagan "Book of Shadows"/"Grimoire"/"Whatever you would prefer to call it" in one of our gallery folders?

Remember, we're not a club without membership. We are what you make of us, and if you've been waiting for a chance to make some practical ideas-- now's the time. :)

I haven't seen it in the feed. 0.0 I wonder where it went? I'm beginning to think that not all submissions are visible to all admins. :/
